Credit Card Questions

i had lost my job few years back and they said my last payment was pending. They had called me and said that they had sent many letters to me which i never received. Then i asked them for the another one but they refused. They charged me so much for my credit card. I had no income at present. My husband doesn't live with me. Should i file bankruptcy against that credit card company? I want to know whether they will ask my husband or not? I paid for it regularly each month after i lost my job. but i can't pay it whole.

Hey, no need to file bankruptcy against them. This is the old debt you can't pay. I thought you may past it to 'statute of limitations by state'. They will tell you about how long your debt is collectible. After more than 5 yrs, it will not shown on your credit report and hence there is need for repayment. Be careful about your debt. In such situation of can't pay off the debt, simply ignore them. You can also contact a financial expert for your help. With best wishes!

I thought you both are liable for the credit card. I advice you not to pay them anything until you can get a written approach. Only pay the amount of approach in written.

As i know in most of the community property states, you both have to share the debts regarding it is in who's name. You call to supervisor or to the corporate office of the credit card company, they should help you. Best wishes for your future.

I and My partner are both overseas students in Usa., we both have a education visa credit card of U.S. bank. We had started using it and we have a good credit history. Now, i had received an offer from U.S. bank for the Visa Platinum Credit Card of thy bank. Is this a good opportunity for us or we should go with the credit card we already have? Will it be good for making a good credit history?

I thought two or three active credit cards must be enough for making a good credit history. If you are sincere with all the credit payments done each month, Then you don't have to worry about the interest rates and late fees payment. I advice you not to open a line of credit everywhere after getting ads.

If this platinum credit card assure you to never exceed the thirty percent of your credit limit for any given month, then i thought it will be good to go with the platinum credit card.

The platinum credit card also comes with the benefits with Chase Platinum Visa Credit Card. It allows its members to chase reward programs. In these programs, you can earn one point for each dollar spent by you. These points are exchange for gift cards, discount for travel, merchandising or cash back. You must take card that the reward points are not earning on fees for the products which protect the balance of your credit card account. If you are making your trip through a travel agency, then you have to pay approx. $15 of mileage redemption fee.

What kind of unsecured credit card can i got for the credit score of average 600? Is my credit rating sufficient for it?

At first, your credit score will depend upon from where you got it. Your's is a low credit score, so you can apply only for the card with an annual fee or high interest rates. You must try to increase your score first by making small purchases and pay them off monthly. Capital one may accept your application, but be sure not to go over limit. After establishing a good credit score go with the better ones. If you are a student then bank will offer you college or university students credit card for no credit history with low interest rates. It will be much better for u. If being an employee go with the credit union credit card or for an open-bond credit union.

Go online and you will get a list of credit cards available with low interest and rewards etc. For low credit score, you must apply for the secured credit card not for the unsecured one. You can get orchard bank secured credit card. It will be better for you.

Credit Card Problems

I had been almost drowned in dept with my credit card. Now i want to close it. Can you tell me that is there any monthly charging for closing my account and the credit card to stop? Will they allow me to pay the remaining bills without interest?

I thought you must contact a debt consolidation company. It will help you to lower the interest rates and to stop your credit card. But your interest will not be canceled out completely until you paid it all.

You must keep the card to the minimum balance. And then pay minimum payment plus some Few Extra dollars. After reducing the balance, the interest will also come down.

Look for the lower interest rate credit card and transfer your old account balance to the new one and close the old one. Take a loan with low interest rate to pay off the credit card and pay back the loan. And then call the credit card company for closing the account b'coz of high rates. Hope it will work.

First option is to talk to the bank for making a payment plan for a monthly fixed amount so that you can pay off your credit easily. Second option is to that you can pay it off with low interest loan. And the third option is to pay off in large payments instead of various small payments. Always remember to read the small print carefully.

You may get some advice from your local community advice bureau also named as CAD. If you can take a loan with better interest rates and fixed payments and then pay off the credit card. Take care of getting the debit card next time or be sure to pay all the depts of getting credit card. Good Luck!

---------------------------------------------------------------------

I have a visa card with commercial bank. I am a college student. I received an offer of a visa card fro capital one.Should i change my account to the capital one or not?

I suggest you not to change your account. It will be safe for you for a long time run. If you are getting lower interest rates then annual fees will also become large. Don't fell into the game of debt. Just stick to that what you have.

I had heard nothing good about the capital one credit card. It will be good to you to continue with the old one Commercial visa with good payment habits. Capital one extends low credit limits to massive over limit fees and high interest rates. Think of it.

If you close the old credit card and get to the new one, it will hurt your credit score. better be the first read the fine print carefully and then get to the other. For being safe, you must keep the old credit card with you for a long run and get the new one sparingly  and keep you credit good for your future.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

I had received a credit card through mail. But i decided not to accept it and hence not to activate that card. I had also not signed any contract with the credit card company. Does i have to pay any annual fee for the credit card or no, as i have not applied for that one?

When you are applied for the credit card or sign up the credit card website and click "I Accept" then only you are liable to pay the charged fees. As doing this means you had opened your account in the company. If you are not activating the credit card, then inform to the credit card company, as not activating the card doesn't mean that you had closed your account. But if you had not done all this then you are not liable to any type of payment. Receiving the card through mail will only be the offer for applying the credit card not the credit card itself.

Just keep the card for records for sure. Look at the paper work inside, if there is any return address then write to them for removing your name from the mailing list. Also, there is another option for not opening the envelope and just write on it 'return to sender'. Then they can't claim you for any type of payment. Best of luck!

If you are not activating the credit card then learn how to use the credit cards and to increase your credit score. You must follow the instructions written on the coming back strong financial programs. It will surely help you in the future.

Credit Score

I got a national card issued by CCA, which is for catalog shopping. It is an unsecured card, But my fren's tell me to throw it away. But i don't want to do so, as it will build my credit and i would be able to get car loans or any other type of loans. What do i do? Will this card built up my credit or not?

Be sure that what are the monthly charges taken by them even in case of zero balance. After paying all the balances in time each month, it will sure build up your credit.

As you say its a catalog shopping card, then how it will help you in increasing your credit. You need a credit card for bad credit and charge no annual fee and also at low interest rates. Just throw it away and go for another one which suits to your case.

I thought this card will charge you high fees and you will be unable to pay for it. Before you activate it, confirm it that it will not build your credit up. Apply for the major credit cards like chase, master card or the discover card, which can help you out.
---------------------------------------------------------------------

A credit card company has rejected my application b'coz i am not a permanent resident. After few months, i applied for the same and told them that i have PR. They sent a credit card to me. Will they really check my PR, credit history or my personal status?

Its risky for giving a credit card to the person who is not a permanent resident. They need your identification proof and address proof to show to the credit bureau. And also to assure that you will pay all the payments each month perfectly.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

I had never believed credit cards so i always pay in cash for everything. But now m going to buy a house for which i need to establish my credit score. At present, my credit score is about 570. What should i do for making good money? Also tell me that How to apply for the best credit cards for low interest rates?

There are a number of credit card companies for people with bad credit or nio credit. Just go with them.

You don't have enough credit score for applying the credit card. But you can get loan easily. Having a credit card is not an easy task. You have to pay each month with no delay in time. Also you must have a good credit history.

For building a credit it's enough to pay your balances each month. Not to worry about he interest rates then. It's necessary only in case you don't pay it regularly and carry a large balance.

I suggest you to go with the capital one. For making regular payments, you will not have to pay the interest rates. And regular payments will improve your credit history and will surely increase your credit score.

Can credit cards be used overseas?

I had got a capital one credit card and it will activate within 7 to 10 working days. Can i use this card overseas? Will they charge me for it? What is better for me to use cash or to convert it in euros?

The bank will surely charge you some fee for using it abroad. You must get complete information about that. It will be cheaper to you to get euros at an ATM and then spend cash.

Hmm, i thought that carrying too much cash is risky. You have to ask the bank and convert dollars into euros. They will give them to you at the current rate plus the small charging fee. Have a nice trip!

Yup, credit card is secure to be used overseas. Just remember to keep all the receipts to you to show them to the bank. Enjoy the trip. Good Luck!

If your card has the logo of visa or master card on it, then no additional cost will be charged to you , as they are used globally. But for safety you have to confirm all the rules and regulations for using your credit card overseas. It will surely help you.

It will be good to you to use the debit card instead of using credit card. As the money directly come out of your account, There is no risk for the credit score. Have a little cash with you and keep all the receipts with you.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

I had saved 4000 off my credit card as interest charges. I had 5000 credit limit. But due to adverse circumstances and tragic death of my father, i had not much time to pay the bills. They had filed a missed payment in my credit report for the delay of just a few days. They had taken off my credit card.I am about to lose my home and business. I want to save a little. Were they allowed me to have my credit card, as i assure them to pay in full in future?

I hope citibank.com will surely help you and allow you to apply for a new credit card and give it to you. You can activate it right away. I know its hard to start with a new one. But it will surely helps you in purchasing little household items.

You had missed you time limit. But you should have a much credit limit. You can apply for the credit card with bad credit. May it will help you!

You must pay your bills before your account has closed. It will improve your credit score and you will get your credit card back.

How to increase your credit score?

I am using my credit card regularly, but still am confused about my billing cycle of my credit card. My due date for credit card payments is 7th of each month of billing cycle of one month. I purchased an item on 15th jan and next on 18th jan. But my statement states that my payment is not due until 7th march. I had cleared my payment on 28th feb. I want to go for another purchase. Then what will be its due date?

During the billing cycle, there is one due date that is 7th in your case and the another one is closing date which may be 13th-14th of the month. You know well about your due date. But you have to take acre of your closing date. As the purchases till that date will be on the statement. Eg. You made a purchase on 11th of the month and next on the 16th. you got the bill on 20th. then your statement will owe you the bill for the purchase o0n 11th, not for the 16th as it was after the closing date. The first will be paid by the 7th of this month and the other one for the 7th of the next month.

For the billing cycle of one month you have to pay for it till the 7th of the next month. After every purchase of the second month you payment will be due to the date of the 3rd month. Most of the companies will not charge interest for this month payment abut charge of every other later months payment.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

I am trying to increase my credit score. Is there any credit card company who offers credit card to people having bad credit? From where i can get free credit score without a credit card?

yup, creditcards.com is a site for people with bad credit or no credit but they still want credit card. You have to charge for getting the credit card. You must stay below one third of the credit limit and pay for it each month in time. There is other site which gives you free credit report with a 30-day trial. these are TrueCredit.com and www.myfico.com. just remember to cancel them in time for escaping from getting charged.

You must go to the reputed bank and get a secured credit card. You first save $250-$500 and deposit it in your saving account and ask them for the secured credit card. They will attach the credit card to your account. Then you can make purchases through that card. you will get a bill at the end of each billing cycle, which you have to pay in time. This will increase your credit score and within 8months or a year you will get a real credit card.

For applying for the master card or visa card, it is not necessary that you must have good credit, but it is necessary to have good credit rating or say credit score. You must assure them that you will pay all the bills in time. your credit rating depends upon your credit report submitted to the credit bureau by the bank. The higher the score, more the chances of getting your credit card.

Bad Credit

I need ASAP for which i applied for a credit card in different places. But due to my bad credit, they refused to get me that. Does anyone knows where to apply credit card to get it easily?

I suggested you not to apply for the credit card but to apply for the loan. When you are paying all the loan installments in time then your credit score will surely go high and restored. And you can go for the credit card easily.

Don't go for the credit card. Just pay all in cash and ENJOY!

It's not good for you to pay bills with credit card if you have low credit score. Just forget it and wait for application of credit card unless you have secured credit.

Yup, there are a list of companies who offer credit cards even to peoples having low or bad credit. You can search them online and apply for them.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

I just have savings account not the checking account. I need the card for ASAP. I had bad credit too. Is it possible for me to get the credit card within a week or two?

At first you have to open the accounts for both the savings and checking. Then you have to keep some dollars in your saving account for securing the line of credit. And you have to assure them to online payment of bills in time for months and much more. Try the orchard bank, it may suit your situation. They have many offers for such type of people with bad credit.

You can only get a secured credit card for the deposit of credit limit to your account. Within a year, after your perfect payments, they will give you a regular card for $500 initially.

You can get a debit card. Go for it unless you got an increased credit score. It will same as secured credit card. There is nothing like an ASAP card.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Do you know such type of credit or debit cards activated globally, Either at any departmental store or any gift card or any net purchasing?

yes, this can be done by any credit card or debit card having logo of visa card or master card or American express. It will also depends upon that type of card is accepted by the site or store, from which you are going to purchase.

Hmm, it surely works. I had done it so many times with my credit card.

credit cards

I have a tricky situation to solve.I now have 3 credit cards
1)1 of them is quite old so its a waste for me now.
2)The other cc has a credit balance of $10000.
3)the third one has USD 15000 Limit.

I want to close this first cc. would it affect my credit score rating?
I have a real nice job now days.I should be able to pay my debt pretty soon alone.
SO If I closing my first credit card will it have any negative affect on my credit score.

I thought that your credit score will definetly go down after closing your first account. So, i suggest not to do this.

Yup, closing your account will prove negative effect to you. Don't close it.

I suggest you not to close your account but to close it in half. It will be much better to stay active for a long interval of time.

You should try to transfer your credit balance to your new accounts, so that it will not affect your credit score. As no debts with the old one can prove mixed out credits to you and later you have to charge more.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

My credit card has been approved for which i had listed my old account details. But 2 weeks past, i got no information about my credit card and my credit score. I urgently need my paid bills and my credit card. I was told that i could not process my paid cards too till the activation of the new one. What do i do?

Just call them and ask them about your credit card. They will have some customer care number or any phone number.

It could be that they sent you details through email. You must be careful. They can charge you the transfer fee. After being your credit over limit, they will charge you ol fee.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

I don't have a much credit history, so no company accepting my application of having a credit card. They also charge about $159, which i can't afford. Does anyone knows about those companies who offers low limit credit cards for less charges or no charges?

You should not apply more for the credit card else it will hurt your credit limit. Better will be wait for sometime and later apply for it after having much credit score in your account.

You can find a website for such a credit online. But make sure that either they are trustworthy or not.

Don't apply for credit card to many different places, it will lower your credit limit. Just wait for at least 1 year and then go for it. Best of luck.

If you have a low credit score and you are not able to pay for it in time then they will charge you. But if you can pay for it timely for a couple of months, then they will give you $150 for the account of $100 time to time. This will increase your credit limit within a year and you got the unsecured card at first and then the secured one.
